Keep Shared Systems Reliable and Manageable

Windows Server, Active Directory, file and print services, SAN/NAS storage and virtualisation support, upgrades and migrations for businesses and schools.

How this service helps

When shared files become difficult to access, storage fills up or an ageing server needs replacement, the dependencies matter as much as the hardware. We assess your existing systems and plan support, configuration or migration around the applications and people that rely on them. We work with physical and virtual servers, Windows services and shared storage, documenting access ownership and separating backup and recovery requirements from the installation itself.

Supported technologies

Servers & Hardware

  • Dell
  • IBM
  • HPE

What's Included

  • Windows Server administration and maintenance
  • Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP
  • File shares, access permissions and print services
  • SAN/NAS configuration, capacity and access review
  • Virtual-machine and host administration
  • Server and storage replacement or migration planning
  • Configuration records, validation and operational handover

How It Works

We inventory services, applications, identities and storage, then confirm backup readiness and the agreed change scope. A migration plan sets testing, cutover and rollback conditions. We implement in agreed windows, validate sign-in, permissions and workloads with your nominated users, and hand over records and ongoing responsibilities.

  1. 01

    Understand

Review your environment, constraints and business priorities.

  2. 02

    Agree the scope

Define responsibilities, deliverables and the change window.

  3. 03

    Implement

Make controlled changes with testing and a rollback plan.

  4. 04

    Hand over

Validate the result and document ongoing ownership.

Plan the right scope

Server quote factors include supported versions, workload dependencies, storage volume, permission complexity, licensing, migration windows and recovery readiness. Hardware purchase, subscriptions and backup services are identified separately; we agree procurement assistance and ownership before ordering.

Useful information for our first conversation

  • Server and storage inventory, operating systems, capacities and application dependencies.
  • Known faults, support or licence expiry dates and planned growth.
  • Current backup and restore-test arrangements, data owners and acceptable downtime.

Questions before you decide

Should we replace the server or move services to the cloud?

We compare workload requirements, local dependencies, connectivity, support and operating costs. Some environments suit a hybrid arrangement. Cloud migration is scoped separately and should follow the application requirements rather than an assumption that every server must move.

Is shared storage a backup?

A file server, SAN or NAS holding working data is not automatically an independent recovery copy. We review backup coverage, permissions and restore testing separately. Storage resilience alone does not address deletion, ransomware or loss of the site.

How are permissions protected during a migration?

We record existing shares, identities and access rules, agree changes with authorised owners and test representative users. The plan includes reconciliation and rollback criteria. Administrator credentials are transferred using an agreed secure method.

What affects the quote?

  • Server versions, workload dependencies and licensing requirements.
  • Data volume, storage capacity, permissions and migration complexity.
  • Cutover windows, recovery readiness, validation and handover scope.

Testing and handover

  • Representative sign-in, file permissions and application workloads validated with nominated users.
  • Configuration, migration exceptions, backup ownership and rollback status documented.
